Bently Biofuels Outpost – Minden Station
The Outpost sells a unique mix of biofuels suitable for use in all gasoline and diesel engine vehicles. Biofuel dispensers are open 24/7 to credit card and fleet card customers. Our store carries a unique variety of healthy snacks, beverages, and eco-friendly products. We support local businesses such as Alpen Sierra who supply us with organic coffee roasted right here in the Carson Valley.

The Bently Biofuels Outpost will be the first retail convenience store certified to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards by the US Green Building Council. Our goal is to minimize energy consumption and lessen our carbon footprint by minimizing the use of fossil fuels not only in our vehicles but also in the operation of our facilities. The retail station is heated by a solar thermal array and biomass boiler. Electricity use will be offset by a photovoltaic array to be installed on the fuel canopy later this year. We recycle packaging and waste streams to avoid filling our landfills and encourage our customers to do the same.

The design of our retail location reflects our commitment to energy conservation and environmentally sustainable design. To meet LEED certification, building materials were obtained from local and sustainable sources. Construction scrap was separated on site and sent to a local facility for recycling. Outdoor lighting uses LED bulb technology that reduces energy consumption up to 70% and reduces light pollution in the night sky. Solar tubes were installed in the restrooms to eliminate the need for daytime lighting along with flush toilets that reduce the amount of water consumed per use. Our furnishings include cabinets made of fast-growing bamboo plywood and countertops made from recycled materials. Even our floor is low maintenance polished concrete that is free of chemical coatings
